Two very different genres headline PlayStation’s free lineup for August.

Sony’s monthly PlayStation Plus giveaway for August 2019 pairs a remastered anti-gravity racer with a World War II sniper campaign, giving subscribers two full retail titles at no extra cost. PlayStation Access broke down the offering in its official overview, confirming both games unlock the first Tuesday of the month. As always, the titles stay tied to a subscriber’s library for as long as their Plus membership stays active.

  • WipEout Omega Collection bundles remastered WipEout HD, the Fury expansion, and WipEout 2048, running at 1080p with dynamic 4K targets and 60fps on PS4 and PS4 Pro, with 26 reversible tracks, 46 ships, 9 modes, and full PS VR cockpit support.
  • Sniper Elite 4 puts players in the boots of operative Karl Fairburne across sandbox maps in 1943 Italy, built around long-range ballistics, tactical traps, and the series’ X-Ray kill cam.
  • Both games go live August 6, 2019, and Plus subscribers also get a free Booster Pack for Warframe (100 Platinum, 100,000 credits, and more) plus a FUT Rare Players Pack and FUT Loan Player Pack for FIFA 19.

WipEout Omega Collection’s Remaster Package

WipEout Omega Collection isn’t a single game so much as a career retrospective, folding WipEout HD, its Fury expansion, and WipEout 2048 into one PS4-native package. Sony’s remaster work pushes the visuals to 1080p with a dynamic 4K target and locks the frame rate at 60fps on both base PS4 and PS4 Pro. That’s a significant jump for a franchise that started life on the original PlayStation.

The collection ships with 26 reversible circuits, 46 distinct ship designs, and 9 game modes, giving racing fans a genuinely deep roster to grind through. PlayStation VR owners get the fullest version of the experience, since the collection supports cockpit-view VR racing across every track and mode rather than a stripped-down VR mode bolted on as an afterthought.

Sniper Elite 4’s Tactical Sandbox

Rebellion Developments’ Sniper Elite 4 drops players into 1943 Italy as Karl Fairburne, working through expansive sandbox-style maps rather than the linear corridors typical of most WWII shooters. The design leans on long-range ballistics modeling, environmental traps, and stealth routing, with the franchise’s signature X-Ray kill camera turning confirmed long-distance shots into a slow-motion payoff.

Long-range ballistics, tactical traps, and the X-Ray kill camera remain Sniper Elite 4’s calling card across campaign, co-op, and multiplayer.

Beyond the single-player campaign, Sniper Elite 4 offers dedicated co-op missions and competitive multiplayer, giving the free PS Plus copy a lot more replay value than a straightforward campaign shooter. For subscribers who missed it on release, this is effectively the full package at no added cost.

Extra Bonuses Alongside the Headline Games

Sony didn’t stop at the two headline titles. Plus members also receive a Booster Pack for Warframe, stacked with 100 Platinum and 100,000 credits, and FIFA 19 players get a FUT Rare Players Pack plus a FUT Loan Player Pack. Neither bonus requires a separate download beyond claiming them through the PlayStation Store.

As with every prior month, access hinges entirely on an active Plus subscription — once a membership lapses, the games and bonuses stop being playable until it’s renewed. Both WipEout Omega Collection and Sniper Elite 4 became claimable starting August 6, 2019, the first Tuesday of the month, which is when Sony has rotated in new Plus titles for years running.

Next month’s Plus lineup drops the first Tuesday of September, and Sony has kept the same two-headline-games format consistent for years — so subscribers holding out on Sniper Elite 4’s co-op missions have about four weeks before this pair rotates out of the “add to library” window for good.
